Basement Renovations

Unfinished basements built out into finished living space: framing, insulation, drywall, flooring and finish carpentry.

01Overview

A basement is the cheapest square footage you will ever add to a house, but it is also the least forgiving. Moisture, low headroom, existing mechanicals and the building code all have to be resolved before a single sheet of drywall goes up.

We handle the basement as one continuous scope: layout and framing, insulation and vapour control, electrical and plumbing rough-in coordination, drywall, flooring, trim and paint. One crew, one schedule, one point of contact.

What's included

  • Layout planning around existing mechanicals, posts and headroom
  • Framing, insulation and vapour barrier
  • Coordination of licensed electrical and plumbing rough-ins
  • Drywall, taping and finishing
  • Flooring, trim, doors and finish carpentry
  • Basement kitchenettes, wet bars and laundry areas
  • Egress and bathroom additions where the layout allows
  • Soundproofing and insulation

03Questions

What people ask

Do I need a permit to finish my basement?
In most Ontario municipalities, yes. Finishing a basement typically involves framing, electrical and often plumbing, all of which are permitted work. We will tell you what your project requires before you commit to anything.
How long does a basement take?
It depends on size, whether a bathroom is involved, and how quickly inspections get scheduled. We give you a written schedule with your quote rather than a number over the phone.
Can you add a bathroom down there?
Often, yes. It depends on where the existing drain is and whether the floor can be opened. We check that during the site visit before pricing it.
